Season of Giving: Food Donations Set for Local Distribution

All-school assembly focuses on meaning of holiday.

Lake Forest Country Day School (LFCDS) recently collected dozens of boxes of food, which will be donated to the C.O.O.L. food pantry in Waukegan.

In addition to the food drive, the school participates in an adopt-a-Family program and a gift drive for the upcoming holiday season. The program provides clothing and gifts for families in need in the Waukegan area and to families in Evanston. Gifts are collected in time for the holidays and will be distributed by LFCDS students, faculty, and staff. Each of these programs are organized and led by Coordinator of Community Service Nan Caldwell.

If residents would like to contribute to any of these outreach programs, contact Caldwell at (847) 295-2002 or via e-mail at nan.caldwell@lfcds.org

As part of its recognition of the Thanksgiving holiday, LFCDS held an all-school assembly on Nov. 23.

The longstanding tradition began with a procession of students and faculty bearing food donations collected as part of the annual food drive. Head of School Michael Robinson offered words on the meaning of the holiday. Students filled the assembly with their musical talents, including the Grades 7 and 8 Symphonic Band performing "Wind Sketch," the Upper School Chorus singing "Jazz Cantate" and "The Blessing," "Salt and Light" performed by the Lower School, and "Simple Gifts" sung by the entire assembly.
