Season Preview: Lake Forest Golfers Set To Defend State Title

Four of six starters from last year's title team return.

Last Year’s Record: The Scouts competed in 18 meets last year with 14 first place finishes, three seconds and a third. 

Last Year’s Highlights: The Scouts captured the state championship following the North Suburban Conference title, the Regional crown and the Sectional trophy. 

Top Returning Scouts: Four of the six golfers who played in the State Meet —  — return to defend the title.

Leading Newcomers: Junior Drew Takaf was part of the state meet contingent, did not play in the finals in 2010. He is expected to contribute this season. 

Season Outlook: Lake Forest is ready to defend its championship. Coach Jim Matheson considers this the team’s greatest strength and weakness. “We have a target on our back,” he said. “Everyone wants to beat us.” All the players competed in American Junior Golf Association tournaments over the summer.
