Sports Digest: Scouts Win Badminton Tournament

Boys' track team, tennis squads have good weekend showings. Water polo team wins while girls' lacrosse falls.

Badminton

Scouts’ Star Performers:      Emily Woidat and Margaux Miller won singles championships while the tandems of Shannon Brown and Taya Zoubareva, Kasia Gorczynki and Katie Gentry and Annie Belgrade and Olivia Nguyen did the same.

Other Notable Scout Performances:            Faelyn Sheridan took second place in No. 2 singles while Sahana Moodabagil earned third at No. 1 singles.

Who’s Next:   The Scouts entertain Stevenson and Zion-Benton at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday. 

Boys’ Track 

The Final Score:        Lake Forest finished third out of six teams in the Warren Invitational. 

Scouts’ Star Performers:      Nick Giordano won the 200-meter dash, the 400 and teamed with Connor Adams, Austin McIlvane and Jack Blumeyer to win the 4x100 relay. McIlvane also took second in the 200 and third in the 100. Blumeyer, Powell, Andrew Grossman and Graham Weinberger were fifth in the 4x400 relay.

Other Notable Scout Performances:            Earning runner-up honors were Drew Stoll (pole vault) and Carson Sperry (high jump). Third place finishes went to Jack Stride (pole vault) and David Fu in the triple jump. Finishing fifth were Grossman (400), Mason Wood (triple jump), Powell (100) and Chip Lekbert (discus).

Who’s Next:   The Scouts entertain Stevenson, Zion-Benton and Chicago Hope at 4:30 p.m. today. 

Tennis 

Final Score:    Lake Forest 6, Fremd 1; Deerfield 4, Stevenson 3; Stevenson 5, Lake Forest 2 

Scouts Star Performers:       The doubles team of John Zordani and Scott Christian had three wins. 

Other Notable Scout Performances:            Craig Campbell won twice in singles. Camron Bagheri won once in singles and again in doubles teaming with Jordon O’Kelley. O’Kelley helped Greg Frauenheim earn one of his doubles wins. The other was with Parker Marsh. Bryce Polender added a singles win and the tandem of Clarke Hough and Colton England did the same in doubles. 

Who’s Next:   The Scouts entertain Vernon Hills at 4:30 p.m. today. 

April 11 

Boys’ Water Polo 

Final Score:    Lake Forest 16, Vernon Hills 5 

Scouts Star Performers:       Colin Rowe scored a goal, handed out four assists and had a pair of steals while Jeffrey Stevens added a goal, three assists and two steals. 

Other Notable Scout Performances:            Jason Woodruff added four goals and an assist while David Hayes had two goals and two steals. Kurt Blumeyer scored two goals while adding an assist and a steal while Coleman Mitchell scored twice and assisted on another tally. 

Who’s Next:   The Scouts entertain Libertyville at 6 p.m. Tuesday. 

Girls’ Lacrosse 

April 3 

The Final Score:        New Trier 11, Lake Forest 6 

Who’s Next:   The Scouts entertain Glenbrook North at 3:30 p.m. today.
