Lack of experienced pitchers looms as a major question mark.

Last Year’s Highlights: A year ago, the Scouts won their Regional opener before falling to Warren. They finished 4-8 in the North Suburban Conference.
Top Returning Scouts: Lake Forest will be led by catcher Charley Gould, shortstop Chris Gordinez, pitcher Jake Stern and outfielder .

Leading Newcomers: Bringing new hope to the Scouts this season are pitcher , outfielder Zach Lucas and catcher/first baseman Matt Lawrence.
Season Outlook: New coach Ray Del Fava , who takes over for the retired Tommy Myers, expects his team’s offensive production to be the Scouts’ strength along with defense. He is pleased with a solid batting order from top to bottom. The unknown for Lake Forest will be pitching depth.

“We have plenty of candidates but few have varsity innings,” Del Fava said.
Season Opener: The Scouts entertain Loyola Academy at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday (March 23).
