Still Time to Contribute to Happy Howl-idays Drive

Monday is the last day to assist Lake Bluff Elementary School's benefit for Orphans of the Storm.

 

Lake Forest and Lake Bluff residents can still contribute to Happy Howl-idays drive to benefit Orphans of the Storm animal shelter.

The drive ends today (Dec. 12), but there are still avenues to donate money, toys and food for the animals at the shelter.

Drop boxes in the community will be open until Monday evening. Drop locations include:

  • Lake Bluff Elementary office, 350 W. Washington (7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.)
  • , 355 W. Washington, Lake Bluff
  • , 945 North Shore Drive, Lake Bluff

The drive has brought in thousands of dollars worth of food, treats, toys, beds, houses, leashes and other supplies for dogs and cats, according to Lake Bluff resident Donna Oldenburg, whose daughter, Ashley, came up with the idea to involve the entire school. More than $1,000 in cash and gift cards has also been donated.

Each of the grades at the school competed against each other to bring in the most donations and win a pizza party and special award from Orphans of the Storm, presented by Orphans Director of Development Jackie Borchew.
 
The awards ceremony will be held at noon Tuesday (Dec. 13) at the school.
