Tour Elegant Homes, Help District 67 Students

Annual Spirit of 67 Home Tour will raise money to enrich student experience at Lake Forest schools.

Lake Forest residents will have their annual opportunity to tour four historically and architecturally significant homes from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday and help the students of Lake Forest School District 67 schools at the same time.

Which homes have been selected by the Spirit of 67 Foundation, the host of the event? That is a surprise. People will learn the four residences when they pick up their ticket Thursday.

Traditionally, one is located in the neighborhoods of Cherokee, Sheridan and Everett Elementary Schools and the fourth could be anywhere in the City, according to Allison Cekay, one of the event chairs. The other two are Megan Medicia and Sally McDonald.

Tickets are $57 for foundation members and $67 for others. Entry can be purchased on the Foundation website through Tuesday. They can also be bought at Sunset Foods between 8:30 and 11:30 a.m. Thursday.

All money raised will be used to fund grants for to enrich the students’ educational experience. “The funds that we raise will are used to fund grant that go through an approval process by our Grants Committee each year,” Cekay said. The Foundation announced 35 grants totaling $203,400 Thursday.
