VIDEO: Another Start, Another Win as Notre Dame QB For Lake Forest's Tommy Rees

The former Scout great turns in one of his best statistical performances in Irish rout over Maryland.

THE SKINNY: Tommy Rees for Heisman? Let's table that talk until 2012. The product sophomore quarterback for Notre Dame torched the Maryland secondary for 30 completions in a 45-21 blow out of the Terrapins in Landover, MD Saturday night. Rees' overall numbers were his best of the season: 30-for-38 passing, 296 yards and two touchdowns. He is now 11-2 at the Irish starter. The game was part of the Irish Shamrock Series, where they play one game each season at a neutral site. (VIDEO)

GOOD TOMMY: In abundance last night. Notre Dame (7-3) picked up the tempo on offense, running 84 offensive plays. Rees used a consistent Irish running game -- 212 yards on the ground -- to spread the field through the air, completing passes to seven different Irish receivers. We even saw Rees scramble and throw accurately in the pocket. Case in point: on his final touchdown on the night, a 34-yarder to tight end Tyler Eifert, Rees showed some athleticism in evading the Terrapin rush. The touchdown throw was Rees' 31st of his career, tying him with Joe Theismann for sixth all time. You can watch the the touchdown pass here. (VIDEO)

BAD TOMMY: For one of the few times all year, this side to Rees' football personality never reared its head Saturday night. He made good decisions all night -- no interceptions -- and if the Irish continue to run the ball with authority, that will only help Rees' numbers.
