Winners Tapped from Lake Forest Public Library Art Show

Athletic forms due June 1.

 

LFHS Art Department winners from the Lake Forest Public Library Art Show were recently announced. More than 200 pieces of art were on display to be judged by members of the Deer Path Art League as the best of the show in various categories. The first place winners receive a scholarship to take a summer course at the school of the Art Institute of Chicago. The scholarships are given by the Lake Forest/Lake Bluff Associates of the Art Institute.This work was chosen from the annual Lake Forest Library Show that displayed the work from April 23 through May 21. Freshmen-Sophomore division - First place: Genna Crofts-drawing, second place: Claire Ruggles-ceramics, Honorable mention: Kilian Skaronea-graphic design. Junior/Senior division - First place: Danya Moodabagil-drawing, second place: Sara Ismail-photography, Honorable mention: Bella Nottoli-sculpture. There will be no school May 28 in celebration of the Memorial Day holiday.

Final Exams for freshmen, sophomore and junior students will be May 30-31, and June 1. English, science, social studies, and math finals will be scheduled for two hours and world language finals will be 1.5 hours long, according to the following schedule: May 30: English from 7:50–9:50 a.m., World Language from 10:50 a.m. to 12:20 p.m. May 31: Science from 7:50-9:50 a.m., Social Studies from 10:50 a.m. to 12:50 p.m. June 1: Math from 7:50-9:50 a.m., Make-Ups 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

LFHS Book Buy-Back will take place from 1:15-4:15 p.m. May 31 and 10:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. June 1 - both at the Lower Commons. Book Buy-Back is a yearly event for students and parents to sell back the textbooks from the current school year. Due to long lines, participants may go through Book Buy-Back only one time so it will be necessary to have all textbooks to be sold back at that time. LFHS Bookstore will not accept books to be bought back after Book Buy-Back. For more detailed information about what books will be bought back, more information can be found at www.lfhs.org.

There will be a Class of 2012 Senior Party from 5:30-8 p.m. May 31 at LFHS.  More information will be available at www.lfhs.org. The Senior Breakfast will be held on from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. June 1 in the LFHS East Campus Commons. LFHS Class of 2012 Graduation rehearsal will be held at 12:30 p.m. June 1 following the Senior Breakfast. Graduation rehearsal is mandatory for students who wish to participate in the LFHS Class of 2012 Graduation ceremony. Students will receive their cap and gown at graduation rehearsal.

LFHS Class of 2012 Graduation ceremony will be held at 2:30 p.m. June 2 on the Lake Forest High School Front Lawn, 1285 N. McKinley Road. Graduates should arrive by 1:30 p.m. Guests should plan to arrive at 2 p.m. and there will be unlimited seating on the front lawn. Class of 2012 Graduation Ceremony will be from 2:30-4 p.m.

All athletic forms for the 2012-13 school year have been mailed to LFHS students. Athletic forms are due back in the Athletic office by June 1. Students who wish to participate in sports at LFHS must have all appropriate paperwork on file. Sophomore, juniors and seniors must complete the following documents to be returned by June 1: Athletic Participation Card (pink), Concussion information form (white), Emergency contact information (white), and an Updated Physical. All forms must be signed by student and parent. Freshmen must complete the following documents to be returned by June 1: Check status (white), Concussion information form (white), Emergency contact information (white), Performance-Enhancing Substance Testing (buff), and an Updated Physical. All forms must be signed by student and parent. The Athletic Office is located at LFHS East Campus, 1285 N. McKinley Road.
