A cornucopia of sports memorabilia, including a rare autographed print singed by famous Jewish baseball players, is the centerpiece of a silent auction at the upcoming Shir Hadash fund raiser, “Living the Chai Life,” at the Arboretum Golf Club in Buffalo Grove.

The 18th anniversary celebration will include hors d'oeuvres, desserts, the auction, a raffle and live music by Not for Profit Band. It will be held from 7:30 to 11 p.m. on Saturday, February 22, at the club, 401 W. Half Day Road.

“The auction is a critical part of the success of Shir Hadash,” said Executive Vice President Glenn Graff. “We are very excited with our new building and the opportunity to expand the things we can do for our members, students and the community. A successful Gala will help us deliver these services.”

The number 18 is significant to Jews because symbolizes life and marks the synagogue's 18th birthday, which is the synagogue's first in its new building. Between 150 and 200 people are expected to attend.

“Jewishbaseballplayer.com partners with Jewish charities to provide the baseball artwork and share the proceeds.  I contacted them and they agreed to work with us, providing the artwork and many other benefits for the silent auction winner,” said Glenn Graff. “I thought this was an item that could get some people very excited about the Gala so we added it as the premier item for the Gala.”

The 24 by 35 inch print is signed by 26 current and past Jewish baseball players, including former Hall of Fame Los Angeles Dodger Sandy Koufax, 2011 Most Valuable Player Ryan Braun and Cy Young Award winner and Cub broadcaster Steve Stone. The image features 9 prominent Jewish figures in the sport. The print is licensed and authenticated by Major League Baseball. It is valued at $6,500.

Included with the print will be:

·       Autographed photo of 1980 Cy Young Winner Steve Stone

·       Membership in the Jewish Baseball Player Executive Club, which includes an invitation to the yearly gathering of buyers of artwork and players

·       A personal phone call with Ron Blomberg, first designated hitter ever.
