Crist Receives Starting Nod Over Lake Forest's Rees At Notre Dame

Senior regains No. 1 job for Sept. 3 season opener.

Lake Forest High School graduate Tommy Rees will be the backup to Dayne Crist when Notre Dame opens its football season on Sept. 3 against South Florida.

Irish coach Brian Kelly made the announcement at a press conference Tuesday in South Bend, Ind.

Rees quarterbacked the Irish for the final four games of last season after Crist suffered a season-ending knee injury in an Oct. 30 loss to Tulsa.
