PHOTO GALLERY: Inaugural Cycling Event Goes off Without a Hitch

Lake Bluff Twilight Criterium impresses new and old fans alike; Kids enjoy their chance to race.

 

A good crowd, decent weather and the sounds of fast-pedaling cyclists combined to make the debut a success Friday night in downtown Lake Bluff.

People came to watch the cycling races, ranging from amateurs to kids to pros, and then stayed for the Lake Bluff Block Party - this time in June after two Fourth of July dates.

2011 Canadian national points race champion Jean-Michel Lachance captured the men's pro race ahead of Jeremy Durrin and Rafael Meran in a field of more than 90 entrants. (see the attached video for a feel of the race)

In the women's pro race, Devon Gorry jumped out to an early lead and staved off Liza Rachetto and Kate Antonneau down the stretch to win in a field of 46 riders.
