Lake Forest Bows from Class 4A Regional Tourney

Scouts spin some magic to reach finals against Fremd.

After closing the regular season losing four of its last five regular season games, the postseason brought out the best in Lake Forest High School's basketball team.

The Scouts used Thomas Durrett's three-pointer at the buzzer to tie Lake Zurich at the end of regulation Monday night, then win in overtime. On Tuesday night, a superior defensive effort held high-scoring Zion Benton to 40 points and Lake Forest emerged with a 47-40 semifinal win to set the stage for Friday night's Regional final against host Fremd.

The host Vikings rode the coattails of their best player, Jack Monaghan, who scored 28 of his team's points in a 44-38 win.
