Lake Forest Cross Country Runners Head to State

Runners from Lake Forest High School and Woodlands Academy will compete for state honors this weekend.

Students from two Lake Forest schools will represent the city in Illinois’ cross country state finals on Saturday in Peoria.

Lake Forest High School sophomore Mark Myers was the only boy to qualify for the state competition.

He will be joined in Peoria by a girls team made up of seniors Haley Horvat, Lizett Pink, Gabrielle Simeck and Claire Yandell; juniors Emma Allen, Etta Eckerstrom and Hannah Flagstad; sophomores Nora Burgener, Katie Condon and Kelsey Schmidt; and freshmen Haley Click and Alex Manley.

Caroline Watts, a senior at Woodlands Academy, is the school’s only runner to qualify for state.
