Lake Forest Scouts Prevail in 2nd Round Football Playoffs

Lake Forest High School beat De La Salle in the second round of the football playoffs Friday night.

The Lake Forest Scouts are headed to the football quarterfinals after winning 27-7 against De La Salle High School Friday night in Chicago.

Lake Forest will next face the winner of Saturday's game between Batavia and Rolling Meadows high schools. The time and date of that game is not yet posted on the Illinois High School Association's website.

Friday night's win puts the Scouts just three games away from the state championship game.

The Chicago Tribune reports that there were some early mistakes in the game, but those were easily overcome by halftime, when the Scouts led 17-0.

Quarterback Regis Durbin threw an interception on his second pass attempt, but later ran for 100 yards on eight carries. Running back Hub Cirame was another team standout, with 76 yards and one touchdown run, the Tribune reports.
