LFHS Girls Tennis Wins State Title

The Lake Forest High School Girl's Tennis Team won first place at the state tournament on Saturday.

The power team that is Lake Forest High School's Girls Tennis won first place at the State Tournament in Buffalo Grove on Saturday. The girls took the top spot with 39 points, with Hinsdale Central in second place with 36 points and New Trier High School earning third place, with 28 points.

Maddie Lipp and Christina Zordani won the top doubles title on Saturday. Their first round of Saturday was against Marika Cusick and Caroline Lorenzina of Hinsdale Central, which Lipp and Zordani won 6-3, 6-1. Their final round was against Tracy Kuhle and Amy Kuhle of St. Theresa High School. LFHS won that 6-2, 6-3.

Elizabeth Zordani earned fifth place in women's singles on Saturday. Zordani played Maria Avgerinos of York High School in cons. quarters, which she won 9-7. This win propelled Zordani into the cons. semi-finals against Carol Finke of New Trier, which Zordani won 9-8 (3). Her final round was against Gaby Rosales, of Marion High School. Zordani won that round 7-5, cinching her fifth place title.

Catherine Orfanos also played beautifully at the state tournament this weekend, however she unfortunately lost her round against Faith Huckabee of Flossmoor-Hinsdale High School 8-4.

Taya Zoubareva and and Victoria Falk made a great effort in their final round against Kamile Stadalnankait and Abbie Boswell of Naperville North High School, but unfortunately the LFHS team lost that round 8-5.
