Rees Pleads Guilty, Gets Probation

Notre Dame quarterback from Lake Forest strikes plea bargain.

pleaded guilty today to two misdemeanors arising from his May 3 arrest that came after South Bend Police broke up a party, according to a story in the Chicago Tribune.

Rees agreed to charges of resisting law enforcement and illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor and authorities dropped counts for resisting arrest and battery. Rees will receive a 30-day suspended sentence as well as 11 months of probation and 50 hours of community service. He also gave letters of apology to the officers involved.

Though the guilty plea ends Rees’ issues with legal authorities, the Notre Dame Office of Residence Life also held a hearing and has not issued a ruling. That office can add penalties or leave further discipline to Irish Head Coach Brian Kelly, according to the Tribune story.
