Former quarterback will not be playing in the season opener Sept. 1 against Navy in Ireland for disciplinary reasons, according to a report on boston.com.
Rees, who was the Fighting Irish starter most of last season, after running away from an off campus party. to some of the charges, was given a suspended sentence, agreed to 50 hours of community service and 11 months of probation.
The action was taken by Notre Dame Coach Brian Kelly who said “players understand it is a privilege” to play for Notre Dame” on boston.com. He said Rees and a teammate, Carlo Calabrese, who was also arrested in the incident, did not meet their responsibility.
