Former Lake Forest High School quarterback to lead Irish this season.

Former Lake Forest High School football standout Tommy Rees will once again be the starting quarterback for the University of Notre Dame when the Fighting Irish open their season August 30 against Rice University in South Bend, according to ESPN College Football.

Rees, a senior who started for Notre Dame in 2011, performed in a backup/closer role to starter Everett Golson last season as the Fighting Irish reached the National Championship Game before losing to Alabama, according to a report on NBC Sports.

Golson is not currently enrolled at Notre Dame, according to a recent Patch article.
