Get a Sneak Peek of Restored Lake Bluff Ice Truck

How cool is this?

Before making its debut at Lake Bluff's Fourth of July parade, history buffs will have an opportunity to check out the cool contraption at the Lake Bluff Fire Station 5-8 p.m. June 28.

The "block party" will feature the ice truck, antique cars, a special Double Clutch brew from the Lake Bluff Brewing Company and other refreshments.

Lake Bluff Ice Company and historic ice truck were owned by Lake Bluff resident Stephen Meutescu. The ice truck was returned to the village in 2010 for restoration after being in storage for more than 50 years, according to the Lake Bluff History Museum.

Built in 1931, the ice truck was used to deliver ice carved from area lakes to residents' homes. It has been featured in past parades as a work in progress, but is ready to roll on its own power, according to a story in the Chicago Tribune.
