Hungry Monkey Baking Company to teach kids how to Make a Sizzlin’ Summer Dinner Menu this Sunday at Elawa Farm

Why not shake things up and have your kids cook and bake for you? Boys and girls ages 8 – 12 years old are invited to join Hungry Monkey Baking Company’s Chief Baking Company’s owner, Cindy Kienzle, to learn how to make the yummiest chicken flatbread pizza with a barbecue/mango drizzle for dinner and Frosty Summer S’mores for dessert. Classes are being held at Lake Forest’s Elawa Farm in Lake Forest this Sunday, July 14th, from 11 am – 12:30 pm.

The Menu: For dinner, kids will learn how to make a barbeque pizza that was inspired byKienzle’s recent trip to Disney. Kienzle and her family ate the most amazing flatbread pizza every night on their trip. Kienzle recreated this pizza and it’s now a favorite with her friends and family.  This special flatbread has it all – crunchy, salty, cheezy, with just a touch of sweetness from the mango.

And for dessert, Kienzle reinvented the all-time summer-time treat,  S’Mores by making a five-layer frozen dessert – a graham cracker crust, followed by a chocolate mascarpone buttercream, vanilla ice cream, homemade chocolate fudge sauce,  and topped off with toasted marshmallow crème! When NBC 5 Chicago asked Kienzle to create a summer dessert for them, she thought this would satisfy both kids and adults—and she was right; it’s now a family favorite!

Kids will enjoy samples of each, while learning how to make this fun summer party meal. They’ll even make some homemade chocolate fudge sauce to bring home.

“I’m thrilled to be fulfilling my life-long dream teaching children to cook and bake. And that it’s at my favorite place, Elawa Farm, right here inLake Forest, well…it’s icing on the cake,” Kienzle stated.

Lake Forest Mom Kienzle started Hungry Monkey three years ago. Her cakes and brownies are sold online at www.hungrymonkeybaking.com, at Sunset Foods, Mariano’s Fresh Market (select locations), Whole Foods, Potash Brothers (Clark Street) and through Irv & Shelly’s Fresh Picks (organic and natural foods home delivery service). Kienzle was recently called by ABC’s Shark Tank to submit a personal video for consideration for Season 5;  she’s hoping he’ll make it on the show.

The cost of the class is $40.00 per child. To sign-up, visit the Elawa Farm website athttp://www.elawafarm.org/4.html
