First Step is Voting Republican

I promised in my last post to make concrete recommendations about what you, the powerless citizen, can do to help fix the mess we're in so let's get to it!  It will cost you nothing.

Vote Republican :  It's that simple.  Now I know you're thinking that this is a transparently self-serving recommendation and that I must be some paid Republican operative.  Not so.  I am a Tea Party guy, and the Republican leadership has declared war on me.  In fact the Republican leadership is working harder to defeat me than they are their Democrat opponents.  So why would I recommend voting Republican?  Because the Main Stream Media holds Republicans accountable for their policies, while Democrats are given a pass no matter how bad they screw things up.  I may not like what the Republican leadership is doing, but they WILL be held accountable, and accountability is the cornerstone of good governance.  This is an ideologically driven recommendation based on the reality of the politics as it stands today.

Attend Civic Meetings:  School board meetings, local council meetings, dog catcher's meeting... go to the meetings ... and sit there ...  do nothing  ... pretend to take notes ... play games on your phone ... try to stay awake ...  make a little eye contact ... occasionally raise an eyebrow as if to say "I can't BELIEVE what's going on here!"... then go home.  That simple act will save you and your neighbors an untold amount of grief because bad government thrives in the dark.   Your mere presence represents the possibility of sunlight shining on their actions and it will change what they are doing even if you never see it.  Give it a try.  You will be the only "civilian" in the room and they will be very interested in who you are and who you represent.  The truth will scare them more than any other answer you could give, "Oh, I just thought I'd stop by and see what you guys are up to.  Have a nice day!", and walk out. 

You ARE the government so learn it, love it, and live it :  Almost none of us believes that, but it's true.  In our system the power of government comes from the consent of the people.  We are not supposed to be slaves to government bureaucracies and arbitrary laws passed to punish one political group and favor another.  Government is there to serve us.  We should not be listening to our representatives, waiting for them to tell us how big our soda cup can be or how much water we can use to flush our toilets.  They should be listening to us, doing what we tell them to do, and most importantly they should be protecting our rights as written down in the Constitution.  Once you believe that then you will understand the future of the country lies not with our elected representatives or nine people in black robes, but with you.

So there!  Three things you can do and none of them will cost you a dime.  I'm not even asking for a donation!
