Facebook Photo Gallery: Volunteers Help Clear Trash from Sunrise Beach

Effort part of Alliance for the Great Lakes along shorelines of Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan and Indiana.

didn’t require the power of Pine-Sol with the 26 volunteers combing its coast for trash last Saturday.  

Mr. Clean had nothing on these cleaning agents, who converged upon the annual event, coordinated by the Alliance for the Great Lakes, to haul away more than 250 pounds of garbage from Lake Bluff’s nearly mile-long shoreline. 

This year brought in a mess of wayward tennis balls, cigarette butts, and empty beer bottles. The strangest piece of wreckage was a semitrailer frame with attached mud flap.

The cleanup helps staff conclude the summer season, which officially ended on Labor Day.
