Lake Bluff Fourth of July Parade Features Historic Judges Panel

Former Lake Bluff Children's Home residents, staff return to fill role.

 

Living history will be part of the 102nd annual set for 10 a.m. Wednesday through the village's streets.

Aptly titled, "History Marches On!", the parade will feature a judging panel comprised of former residents and staff members of the , which was recently featured in the film, , directed by Lake Bluff resident .

The panel includes: Ernie Van Es (a 1940’s resident); Rosemary Stewart (Timms) (a 1940’s resident); Ralph Whiteman (a 1940‘s house parent); Wally Spitzer (a 1950’s resident); Heather Madsen Waldoch (a 1960’s resident) and Tony Comer (a 1970’s resident).

In addition, the Reviewing Officer is Rear Admiral Sandra E. "Sandy" Adams. This is the first time in the history of the Lake Bluff Fourth of July Parade that a woman will act in this position. Adams is the reserve deputy commander of the Midwest Region for the U.S. Navy located at Great Lakes Naval Training Center.
