Friday Night is Homecoming! Come Cheer on the Scouts!

Lake Forest High School's football game against Round Lake will kick off a weekend full of local events.

Need a shot of Scouts spirit? Take a walk around Lake Forest’s Market Square, where high-schoolers spent Monday afternoon painting blue and gold Homecoming messages on store windows.

Scouts fans will gather Friday night to support the varsity football team’s game against Round Lake. The game kicks off at 7:30 p.m.

Can't make it the school? You can also stay in and watch the game on your computer via High School Cube's live stream.

The 21-and-older crowd can (hopefully) celebrate a Scouts win Saturday night at Lake Bluff Brewing Co., which invites the public to sample the 13 entries in its second homebrew competition. Samples will be offered from 2-4 p.m. Sept. 21 in the taproom.

“The last homebrew competition packed the brewery, and this one certainly promises to bring in more people,” bar manager Pato Thornycroft wrote in an email to Patch.

Sunday is the day for young Republicans — or those who want to meet some.

Lake County Young Republicans and McHenry County Young Republicans are co-hosting a public barbecue beginning at 1 p.m. Sept. 22 at Half Day Forest Preserve. Local Republican office holders will be present, along with gubernatorial candidates Kirk Dillard and Bruce Rauner.
