Author Amy Gail Hansen will talk about her first novel, “The Butterfly Sister,” at 7 p.m. Friday at the Lake Forest Book Store. She is a local resident and a corporate executive. She will also be signing copies of the book.

Doctor Talks About Being Held Captive by the Taliban
Dr. Dilip Joseph will talk about his experience as a captive of the Taliban and his four and a half years assisting community development in Afghanistan at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Gorton Center.

Farmers’ markets abound this weekend
Get an early jump on the weekend at the Lake Bluff Farmer’s market will be open from 7 a.m. to noon Friday or at the Garden Market at Elawa Farm from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday. Outdoor marketing moves to the Lake Forest train station parking lot from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.
