I am a Lake Forest resident that commutes to Chicago regularly. In the past, there used to be anRead More excellent WIFI service at the East train station (LFGuest) that now it seems that has been discontinued, or is not working properly. Can the city look into this? I found this service extremely valuable for the daily commuters. Thank you so much. Cele.
Celerino Abad-Zapatero April 23, 2014 at 09:30 am
The story about the LFHS offender has an inconsistency in the number of hours of community serviceRead More that Mr. Davidson has to serve. The story in the Patch mentions 1,500; the Daily Herald says 150. What is the correct number? Cele.
Emily Stone (Editor) April 23, 2014 at 09:46 am
Hi Cele, Thanks for pointing that out. The Herald must have changed that number since yesterday.Read More I've updated it. -Emily

Look at that scumbag in the picture......I'm all for building more prisons while employing workersRead More to build them and guards to staff them...But this guy deserves the chair! Make it pay-per- view to help fund our police departments to gather up these dirt bags standing on the street corners before they commit these crimes.

Better yet.....let me have 5 minutes with this guy. You can video it if you like but it won't beRead More for the faint of heart!

Though fatalities to older drivers do increase with age, 23% of all auto collisions involve cellRead More phones. Drivers 16 to 19 have the highest accident rates. The higher fatality rates for older drivers is attributed to their inability to recover from injuries that younger drivers could recover from. In all age groups - male drivers have higher accident rates and fatality rates. The most dangerous driver is the driver of any age texting or using a cell phone. Venting about older drivers may be fun, but not very informed. Male teens have the highest accident rates. But like any other group there are good drivers and careless among teen male drivers. We should all put the cell phone away while driving and this would drop the accident rate.

You know what's more unbelievable than a car running into Starbucks? The outlandish price of theirRead More coffee. And now they have mild coffee, called "blonde." Huh? So black is bitter and harsh and blonde is mellow and mild. What a country...

Did you see the Drew Peterson movie? It portrayed Hosey's office as a gleaming, modern andRead More bustling. As opposed to the stained drop-ceiling and general bleakness. Just let the Patch be the joke it always has been.
Jacob Matthews April 21, 2014 at 08:48 am
Leave it to the Patch to embellish Comedy Central as a business to be respected.

Rico Suave April 6, 2014 at 07:24 pm People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only becauseRead More rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf. Remember this Benny G and all you other scum sucking Liberals out there. The police in these ghetto areas are chasing them down every night in an attempt to keep them from coming into your so called safe areas. Appreciate their sacrifices and don't give this white Fucktard the time of day. Hey Kenneth! Love teh comments... Who else would say fucktard on here?

@ knee jerk. Although the upper limit IQ for officers is 105, the target IQ is between 94-98. TheRead More average IQ of a U.S. citizen is 100. Whenever you are speaking to a police officer, you are most likely speaking to someone with an IQ considerably Lower than your own. Please remember to speak slowly, always try to limit the amount of syllables in each word to less than three, and try not to laugh... Cuz They get Really Paranoid. Must be the drugs.

911 service shouldn't be sacred but it is not the only place we should cut. How about firing BobRead More Kiely for allowing the local administration to become so bloated and wasteful on his watch?
Matt Nielsen March 31, 2014 at 08:06 am
There are just too many questions surrounding the effectiveness of this decision and how it isRead More communicated to the communities involved. They have public forums, but barely communicate them or give sufficient notice. Then nobody shows. This change has been railroaded through by the powers that be all in the name of saving money, not increasing public safety.
Rene Caputo April 1, 2014 at 05:51 pm
One major problem with this consolidation is how many cities are actually involved? It's not onlyRead More LF, LB, Glenview and HP--they also monitor 911 calls for other cities? How many cities in total are we talking about? How many people will be staffed at all times? We are going to save 1.? million over 5 years but what is the cost to put this whole thing together?? What is going to happen to all the dispatchers? I'm sure they'll be consolidated by losing their jobs!! As residents we need some questions answered as to the safety and security of our residents and business owners. I definitely agree with Bonita on this issue!!

Does anything happen in Darien anymore?! I never see any articles about anything happening inRead More Darien, the Lion's Club pancake breakfast, the armed robberies at the gas stations, the 75th St. construction, city council budget, anything Darien related! How can you call this the Darien Patch when there is nothing about Darien in. Every other town or city has a Patch site that has articles related to their town. We get lazy editors who just copy and paste from other news sites.
Kelly O' March 30, 2014 at 06:17 pm
You don't have a lot of crime in Darien. Thank your lucky stars.

She will have cost all us taxpayers a lot of money when this is all done. Millions in lawsuits andRead More probably a million plus in repairs to the system. I could be wrong, but maybe a little more training and evaluation needs to be implemented before someone is turned loose at the controls...
