Carmichael, Schmidt hit runway this weekend in Charleston.
Carolina Carmichael and Carly Schmidt aren’t just two of the premier female pole vaulters in the state of Illinois; they are students of the sport. When time allows, the Lake Forest High School standouts can be found watching videos of some of the best vaulters in the world. Carmichael admits she fixates on Steve Hooker, the Olympic gold medalist from Australia (see attached video), and U.S. women’s record holder Jenn Schur. Eight grade graduation set May 31 at LFHS West campus.
District 67 second through eighth grade students have been participating in a brief School-Wide Behavior Support Survey. The survey is consistent with a positive behavior support model, which forms a portion of the district's Emotional Wellness Initiative, and offers an important glimpse into student perceptions and experiences in the school environment. Parents' perspectives are very important as well, and the district intends to evaluate and refine its efforts for next school year, based upon feedback. LFHS Art Department winners from the Lake Forest Public Library Art Show were recently announced. More than 200 pieces of art were on display to be judged by members of the Deer Path Art League as the best of the show in various categories. The first place winners receive a scholarship to take a summer course at the school of the Art Institute of Chicago. The scholarships are given by the Lake Forest/Lake Bluff Associates of the Art Institute.This work was chosen from the annual Lake Forest Library Show that displayed the work from April 23 through May 21. Former Lake Forest High School standout Tommy Rees, the starting quarterback last year at Notre Dame, pled not guilty to four misdemeanor charges stemming from his arrest earlier this month at a house party in South Bend, Ind., according to the Chicago Tribune. Rees, of Lake Bluff, appeared Thursday morning in St. Joseph County courthouse in South Bend. Rees is charged with one count of battery, two counts of resisting law enforcement and one count of illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor. The battery charge was originally listed as a felony, but later reduced by St. Joseph County prosecutors. A status hearing has been set for July 17, according to the Tribune.
