Regional Crime Report: Explosion Injures 3, Boy Rescued from River and More

The following police items were taken from area Patch sites. When a charge is referenced it does not indicate a conviction.

Cary Three Injured in Blaze at Industrial Building in Cary Three workers were injured in an explosion and fire at Fox Valley Systems in Cary on Wednesday. Nearby buildings had to be evacuated due to the paint and chemicals contained in the building, officials said. Two people injured in the explosion have been transferred to the burn unit at Loyola Hospital and the third victim was sent to the St. Anthony Hospital Burn Unit in Rockford, according to Cary Fire Lt. Andy Veath.  Investigators from the Cary Fire Protection District, Occupational Safety and Health Administration and Illinois State Fire Marshals are still investigating what caused the two explosions and the subsequent fire. Unlawful Use of a Credit Card, Theft

The following arrest information was supplied by the Lake Forest Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor Four female juveniles, two 16 and two 17, are being charged with consumption of alcohol, according to Lake Forest Police reports. Their administrative hearing is set for Nov. 12 at City Hall. The subjects were all passengers in a vehicle stopped for a traffic violation, police said. The officers located alcohol in the car and all four subjects exhibited an odor of alcohol. They all refused to provide a breath sample and were issued administrative hearing citations. Theft, Possession of False ID and Illegal Control of Cannabis

The following arrest information was supplied by the Lake Forest Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Theft Johanna T. Wassermann, 49, of Waukegan is being charged with theft, according to Lake Forest Police reports. Her hearing is set for Dec. 11 in Waukegan, and her bond is set at $1,500. The report states that officers responded to an attempted theft at the Lake Forest Hospital gift shop. The employees there said that Wassermann attempted to take several items from the shop by pretending that she had previously paid for them. Security believed that she had successfully done the same thing at the Health and Fitness Center on Nov. 17. After viewing security footage and speaking with Wassermann, she was taken into custody and charged with theft for the Nov. 17 incident. Forgery, Trespassing and Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor

Forgery Chad Richard McCleary, 38, of Chicago is being charged with forgery, according to Lake Forest Police reports. His hearing is set for Dec. 8 in Park City, and his bond is set at $120.  The report states that McCleary, a former staff member of the fitness club at 1200 N. Westmoreland, was arrested for forgery after it was found that he was creating false membership accounts and documents over the years in order to increase his sales commission.
