Bobby’s Turns Deli Food Into Gourmet Delight

Smoked salmon pastrami has become a signature appetizer at upscale Deerfield bistro.

Smoked salmon, cream cheese and potato pancakes are traditional delicatessen fare but Bobby’s Deerfield has crafted the three ingredients into a popular appetizer at its upscale American bistro with an Italian influence. Earlier: Bobby’s Deerfield Plans Sumptuous Menu Bobby’s first turns the smoked salmon into a Pastrami before putting it over a layer of cream cheese which sits atop a potato pancake. It was part of a special tasting for Patch before the eatery opened in October and has been a popular dish since day one. “We like smoked salmon, potato pancakes and cream cheese and tried to come up with all three in one dish,” co-owner Bobby Arifi said. “Smoked salmon and cream cheese are traditional together.” The difference was putting …

Miller's Common Ground Legacy Continues to Inspire

A year and a half after Ron Miller’s death, his spirit keeps touching his students and colleagues. They came together at Bobby’s Deerfield Nov. 2.

Ron Miller founded Common Ground in Deerfield nearly 40 years ago and 18 months after his death he continues to touch people in and around Deerfield. Ten days ago his legacy brought a Deerfield writer, a Chicago vintner and Bobby’s Deerfield together. Common Ground is a center for “inquiry, study and dialogue,” according to its website, started by Miller and Jim Kenney in Deerfield in 1975 to study comparative religion. It has expanded to give offerings to deal with how spiritual, cultural and philosophical ideas impact human experience. One of the people Miller touched is Rosemary Hurwitz of Deerfield. She felt his spirit Nov. 1 when she learned she would be a published author and the next day when she was dining at Bobby’s Deerfield with…

Bobby’s Deerfield Review: Saving the Best for Last

When Café Lucci’s signature dessert arrives in Deerfield, people are going to love it.

Welcome to North Shore Foodie Finds, where Patch showcases unusual eats available at restaurants around the North Shore. This week, we're spotlighting a trip to one of North Shore’s established restaurants which will be one of the area’s newest next month when Bobby and Augie Arifi, the owners of Glenview’s Café Lucci, open Bobby’s Deerfield. Though Café Lucci is an Italian restaurant, Bobby’s will be “an American bistro with an Italian influence,” according to Bobby Arifi. Patch was treated to a tasting of the new menu last week and was thrilled. After enjoying appetizers and main courses, it was time for dessert. After writing about the initial part of the menu Monday, Patch saved a review of Augie’s Chocolate Cake for last. The …

Bobby's Deerfield Plans Sumptuous Menu

Hosted at their Glenview restaurant, the ever-popular Cafe Lucci, Arifi brothers Bobby and Augie invited Patch for a tasting of the soon-to-open Bobby's menu.

Wow! The Village is in for a treat when Bobby’s Deerfield opens downtown next month. Co-owner Bobby Arifi—he shares entrepreneurship with brother Augie Arifi—prepared a tasting of six dishes which will be on the menu for Deerfield’s newest eatery Thursday for Patch’s tasting at the brothers’ Glenview establishment, Café Lucci. Earlier: Deerfield’s Newest Restaurant Will Cater to Local Taste “We’ll be an American bistro with an Italian influence,” Arifi said when he brought his signage to the Village for approval last month. The demonstration we got Thursday was exactly that. We were more than pleased. Expectations were high but they raised the level to a new height. Arifi and his staff brought six dishes. One was an appetizer, another a …

Deerfield’s Newest Restaurant Will Cater to Local Taste

Owners of Bobby’s Deerfield promise a wide range of fresh, quality selections. The restaurant will take over the space used by Townhouse Kitchen + Bar.

An eclectic menu with fresh offerings tailored to the tastes of Deerfield is the goal of Bobby’s Deerfield, the Village’s newest restaurant opening in October in the location occupied by Townhouse Kitchen + Bar until Sunday. “Fresh will be a big deal for everything we do,” co-owner Bobby Arifi said. “We have good food, good wine and good people. The food will be what the people in Deerfield like. The menu will be in evolution. If there’s something we see that people like we will add it.” Earlier: New Concept To Replace Townhouse Operated by Arifi and brother, Augie Arifi, who now own Café Lucci in Glenview, the new establishment will have a few pasta dishes, a breadth of wine selections and a lot more, according to Bobby Arifi. There will …
