  The NFL draft begins at 7 p.m. Thursday and the Chicago Bears have the 19th overall pick. The Bears have a checkered draft history, to say the least. For every Walter Payton, there’s a Rashaan Salaam. But, of all Bears mistakes on draft day, which is the worst? We did our best to compile a list of worthy nominees and we limited our choices to the first round: Those are our nominees. Bears Camp Speaks to Lake Forest Youngster's Football Dreams

Former Chicago Bears player Robin Earl brings in former teammates like Emery Moorehead to talk about how football mirrors life.

Kevin Bires is a quarterback with professional aspirations. The 9-year-old, a fourth-grader at Cherokee School in Lake Forest, also plays in the city’s youth football program and on a traveling soccer team.  When it comes to picking between the sports, Bires wants the football in his hands whether he is running with it or throwing it. He also likes the homespun feeling of football.  “If I ever make it as a professional, I don’t want to go to Spain and hear them say ‘Ole,’ ” Bires said. “And those horns are annoying,” he added, referring to the vuvuzela, also called the stadium horn, at last year’s World Cup soccer competition in South Africa.  Knowing how challenging the quest to become a professional athlete can be, former Chicago Bear …

Chicago Bears Conduct Lake Forest Parks and Recreation Camp

Ages 6 to 14 can learn non-contact football skills from former Bear players.

Lake Forest Parks and Recreation Department will host a Chicago Bears Youth Football Camp during the week of June 27 through July 1 at Deer Path Middle School. The camp meets daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the school, 95 W. Deerpath Road.
