Presentation regarding the educational and extracurricular opportunities available for incoming Deer Path students are being held on May 7 and 8.

District 67 parents, staff and community members are invited to a reception to honor retiring Board members Julia Wold, Jeff Pinderski, Laurie Rose, and John Julian on Tuesday, May 7. The reception will be held at 6:00 pm in the Board Room, District 67 Administration Center (LFHS West Campus), 300 S. Waukegan Road in Lake Forest. The walk-a-thon will be held on Friday, May 17th on the Deer Path Middle School campus between 2:45 and 3:30.
The information below provided by District 67. Every year, students at Deer Path Middle School participate in a walk-a-thon to raise money for a variety of charities. The process of selecting these charities is student-driven and begins with an invitation for students in grades 5-8 to nominate charitable organizations about which they are passionate. The goal is for the DPM campus to come together to raise awareness for these organizations, whether they are local, national, or international. Students were given a two-week timeframe to complete an application, during which a total of 20 organizations were nominated. The information below was provided by District 67. Family Sharing Night for Everett and Sheridan Schools will be held on Thursday, April 18 from 6:30-7:15 pm. Cherokee will hold their Sharing Night on Wednesday, April 24 from 6:30-7:15 pm. Family Sharing Night is a time for all elementary school students to share their classroom and school experiences with their families. Art, IRC, Music, Wellness, World Language and classroom instructors will be available to visit with families. District 67 students will celebrate Earth Week beginning Monday, April 21. Third graders at Everett enjoyed an educational session via Skype with the son of one of their school's staff members - Erik Winkler - a LFHS graduate and a Program and Training Specialist with the Peace Corp.

Third graders at Everett enjoyed an educational session via Skype with the son of one of their school's staff members - Erik Winkler - a LFHS graduate and a Program and Training Specialist with the Peace Corp. After having volunteered in the Peace Corp, he decided to work for the organization training incoming volunteers. He lives in Barranquilla, in northern Columbia. Everett students sent Mr. Winkler questions in advance and he developed a PowerPoint presentation to guide the discussion. He taught students about life in Columbia. They learned about the tropical climate, wild life, schools, and much more. Ms. Susie Oh, Everett Information Literacy Instructor, arranged this opportunity. …

Along with the Lake Forest Caucus, I enthusiastically endorse Jeff Folker for District 67 School Board. I had the pleasure of working as Jeff’s Vice President during his tenure as Cherokee APT President and I saw firsthand his professionalism, his leadership, and his unending commitment to make our schools the best they can be. Jeff is a trailblazer. He was the first male to be selected as a District 67 APT President. He successfully incorporated his passion for Cherokee with his business expertise, his organization skills, and his penchant for setting goals and making data-based decisions to run an efficient and productive APT. Lake Forest School District 67 has approved the appointment of Kelly Jackson as the new principal of Cherokee Elementary School.

The Lake Forest School District 67 Board of Education has approved the appointment of Mrs. Kelly Jackson as the new principal of Cherokee Elementary School, effective July 1, 2013. Dr. Michelle Shinn, who has been serving as principal for both Cherokee and Sheridan Elementary Schools for the past two years will return to her role as principal of Sheridan. Mrs. Jackson has served in Wilmette Schools and East Grand Rapids Schools, in East Grand Rapids, Michigan. Mrs. Jackson's undergraduate degree is in elementary education, Spanish, and social studies from Calvin College.
