Dold Takes Students on Field Trip
Twenty-two area high school students watch UL test fire safety by burning houses as they view application of STEM education.
STEM education has been a passion of Rep. Robert Dold (R-Kenilworth) since he was elected to Congress. Monday, he took 22 area high school students on a field trip to Underwriters Laboratories (UL) in Northbrook and three other sites to prove his point. Dold often touts the importance of educating young people in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) to ease their way into the modern job market. STEM reminds me of stem cell research, an issue Congressman Dold would likely never endorse with a vote on the floor of the House, but he does exploit kids for a story. Here we sit in Lake County, part of the IL-10 district, and this lightweight (disguised as a moderate) Congressman chooses to take a few kids to a place where they blow things up.
