Driver’s License Infractions Adan Castrogon-Garcia, 64, of North Chicago was arrested Wednesday for driving without a valid driver’s license and failure to signal a turn when required, according to Lake Bluff Police reports. When police stopped Castrogon-Garcia for failing to signal for a right turn at the intersection of Waukegan Road and Albrecht, he said he needed directions, according to report. After checking further, police learned he did not have a license. He was released on bond and will appear in Lake County Court at 10:30 a.m. April 2. Adela Rogel-Vera, 43, of North Chicago was arrested Thursday for driving without a valid license, improper lane usage and driving without insurance, according to Lake Bluff Police reports. …

Identity Theft Lake Bluff Police are investigating a case of identity theft after a citizen reported unlawful charges of $503 and $103 against the person’s ATM card Feb. 2, according to Lake Bluff Police Reports. Burglary from Motor Vehicle Clothing and athletic equipment were taken from an unlocked car Jan. 31 at the Lake Bluff Train Station, according to Lake Bluff Police reports. After receiving the report, the officer looked up and down the street and recovered the items. Driver’s License Infractions Leonard Lennart, 39, of Lake Bluff was arrested Feb. 6 for driving with suspended license plates, driving an uninsured motor vehicle and disobeying a stop sign, according to Lake Bluff Police reports. Possession of Cannabis Matthew Deka, 23, of Wauconda and Vincent Walker, 21, of Libertyville were arrested Jan. 3 for possession of cannabis and drug paraphernalia, according to Lake Bluff police reports. Police spotted Deka driving with only one headlight illuminated near 431 Albrecht Drive, according to the report. After making the stop, the officer smelled the odor of burnt cannabis. A search revealed both marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Deka and Walker were released on bond and will appear in Lake County Court at 10:30 a.m. Feb. 5 in Park City. A Deerfield woman sued Barnes & Noble for invasion of privacy claiming her credit card information was stolen when shopped at the booksellers’ Deerfield store in August and September, according to a complaint filed Monday in federal court in Chicago. Susan Winstead filed the complaint for herself and “on behalf of others similarly situated” attempting to create a class action lawsuit against Barnes & Noble arising from compromised pin pads in 63 of the company’s stores throughout the United States, according to the complaint. Would-be thieves use Lake Bluff resident's address to deliver goods hoping she wouldn't be home.
A case of identity theft left a Lake Bluff resident with more than $6,000 in credit card charges and nothing to show for it. A resident in the 300 block of Belle Forte Court received a call July 7 from Nordstrom after two purchases on her account were red flagged. One charge was for $2,700 and was set to be delivered to her home address, and the second was for $1,000 and was to be delivered to an address in Chicago. In addition, a separate charge using her American Express card was made at Neiman Marcus for another $2,700 to purchase a Celine handbag. The handbag was delivered by Federal Express to her house at 10:30 a.m. July 7, and picked up by someone other than the homeowner. The homeowner called Lake Bluff Police at 11:16 a.m. July …

She's not David Letterman, but Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan has her own Top Ten list. Madigan released her list of top 10 consumer complaints Wednesday (March 2), detailing concerns of the 170,000 consumers who contacted her office’s Consumer Protection Division in 2010. In anticipation of National Consumer Protection Week, Madigan said the top complaints involved consumer debt as the job loss and home foreclosures continue to take a toll on Illinois consumers. That consumer debt again topped the list of concerns in 2010 mirrors what Madigan’s office has seen in recent years as consumers struggle with pocketbook issues in a down economy.
