The City of Highland Park in conjunction with the Office of the Illinois Attorney General presents an opportunity to learn more about the Immigration Assistance Program at an informational event on Saturday, May 4 at 9:30 a.m. at Highland Park High School at 433 Vine St., in the Commons Room. Lake County Sheriff Mark Curran wants to keep his current position for another term.
After announcing last December that he was considering a bid for attorney general in 2014, Lake County Sheriff Mark Curran, of Libertyville, said he now intends to seek a third term as sheriff, reported the Daily Herald. “I have decided to run for re-election for Lake County Sheriff. I have been entrusted for the past six years with the responsibilities as Sheriff of Lake County. She's not David Letterman, but Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan has her own Top Ten list. Madigan released her list of top 10 consumer complaints Wednesday (March 2), detailing concerns of the 170,000 consumers who contacted her office’s Consumer Protection Division in 2010. In anticipation of National Consumer Protection Week, Madigan said the top complaints involved consumer debt as the job loss and home foreclosures continue to take a toll on Illinois consumers. That consumer debt again topped the list of concerns in 2010 mirrors what Madigan’s office has seen in recent years as consumers struggle with pocketbook issues in a down economy. A Lake County man who resides in unincorporated Lake Bluf has been indicted by a Lake County grand jury on five counts of child pornography, according to the state's attorney general's office. Ian O'Donohue, 39, who lives in the 29000 block of North Waukegan Road in unincorporated Lake Bluff, was charged with two counts of aggravated possession of child pornography and three counts of possession of child pornography. O'Donohue will have an arraignment hearing Feb. 28 at Lake County Court in Waukegan. He was originally arrested by North Chicago police on Jan. 8 as part of Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan’s crackdown on the most active traffickers who download and trade child pornography on the Internet.
