Deer Path Middle School Advances 7 Wrestlers to State

Make trip Friday to Northern Illinois University.

  Deer Path Middle School will send seven wrestlers to the Illinois Elementary School Association State Wrestling meet starting Friday at Northern Illinois University's Convocation Center in DeKalb. The Braves advanced by placing in the top three of their weight class from last weekend's Sectional tournament at Shepard Junior High in Deerfield. Seventh grader Andrew Tuttle (25-9) at 80 pounds and classmate Marko Tupanjac (24-2) at 100 pounds each collected second places in their respective weight classes. Deer Path Girls' Cross Country Grabs 2nd at State After Winning Sectional Title

Make 3rd straight appearance at State.

Deer Path Middle School's girls' cross country team captured second place at last weekend's Illinois Elementary School Association State meet at Maxwell Park in Normal, Ill. It was the third straight appearance by Deer Path, which finished with 122 points to trail team champ Chatham Glenwood's 80. The rest of the top five included Edwardsville Liberty (172), Oak Park Brooks (230) and Normal Parkside (247). Deer Path's top finisher was Geneva Lee, who took 14th in 12 minutes, 11 seconds for the two-mile course. Lauren Garriques and Alex Manley crossed in 20th ands 21st, respectively, in times of 12:17 and 12:18. Deer Path Middle School Athletes Head to State Track Meet in Peoria

Seventh grade girls fresh from winning Sectional title.

Deer Path Middle School will send 13 athletes to the Illinois Elementary School Association state track meet today and Saturday (May 20-21) at the Eastside Centre in Peoria. The girls dominate the entrants with 13, while Parker Marsh is the lone boy to qualify. He will compete in the 110-meter high hurdles. On the girls' side, Meg Linnane will run in the 100 high hurdles, the 400 and as part of the 1,600 meter relay team. Alex Manley will compete in the 800 while Gigi Lee runs in the 1,600 along with teammate Elise Wong. Wong will also race in the 400 and as part of the 1,600 relay.
