Lake Bluff Middle School Presents Rogers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella

Between cast members, tech crew, set construction, props, costumes, makeup and other jobs, nearly two thirds of the student population of Lake Bluff Middle School is involved in the production.

The information below comes from Lake Bluff Middle School. The students of Lake Bluff Middle School will take audiences on a trip to a land of enchantment when they present Rodgers & Hammerstein’s timeless classic musical, Cinderella, on Friday and Saturday, April 19 and 20. Show times are Friday at 7:30 pm and Saturday at 2:00 pm at the school, 31 E. Sheridan Place in Lake Bluff. Premium seats are $20 each and are sold on a first come, first served basis. General seats are $10. Both types of tickets are available in advance by using a form available on the Middle School website at http://ms.lb65.org. General tickets are also on sale for $10 at Wisma, 24 E Scranton Ave. The sixth, seventh and eighth graders have been working on the show …

Snow Forces Cancellation of Events

Most after school and park activities in Lake Forest and Lake Bluff are cancelled. Regional basketball game postponed until Wednesday.

All after school activities for Lake Forest High School and the elementary schools in both Lake Forest and Lake Bluff have been cancelled today because of the snow storm including the Scouts Regional basketball tournament game in Lake Zurich. Those cancellations include the Lake Bluff District 65 School Board meeting, according to the District website. The Lake Bluff Park District has cancelled all events except the arts program, according to a spokesperson. The Village’s Recreation Center and Fitness center will close at 6 p.m. today. In Lake Forest, the Department of Parks and Recreation has called off all its programs today, according to Marketing Director Cathy Japuntich. Orientation Set for LFHS Class of 2017 Parents

Parents of incoming Lake Forest High School freshmen can schedule registration appointments now.

Curriculum Orientation Night for the parents of incoming Lake Forest High School freshmen will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. Jan. 23 at the East Campus, according to a news release from the school and information available on the District 115 website. Parents who have not already made their registration scheduling appointment online must do so on line before 11:55 p.m. Friday. The Lake Bluff Middle School Poms Squad scored 2nd place at the 13th Annual Hawthorn Spirit Invitation Competition held this past week. The team, whic is made up of 6th and 7th graders, is coached by Carly Quick and Angela Rogna. Congratulations, girls!

Lake Bluff Middle School Predicts the Election

Students took part in a Mock Election which accurately predicted the outcome of the Presidential Election.

Lake Bluff Middle School students recently learned some important lessons about the importance of civic engagement – and accurately predicted the 2012 Presidential Election results to boot. The students took part in the school’s Mock Election, which has been taking place since Richard Nixon ran against George McGovern in 1972. The whole school got involved with the preparations for the election, with 6th grade social studies students handling voter registration (each student had to register to be allowed to vote). The 7th grade students ran the election – including handing out ballots, verifying signatures and supervising the polling place. Lake Bluff Girl Heads to Junior Olympics

Jenna Spanswick, new to town, is already creating an athletic legacy.

Jenna Spanswick became a star athlete for Lake Bluff Middle School before she ever attended a class.  Spanswick, who competes in the 200-meter dash in the Junior Olympics starting Tuesday in Houston, moved to Lake Bluff with her family in June but she has been away a bit qualifying for the event.  Participating in sprints and the long jump, Spanswick was the District champion in the 200 meter dash with a 27.73  clocking and finished second in the 100 (13.35) and long jump (13-1) June 23 in Waukesha, WI.  A week later she improved her performance in two of the three events during the final qualifying event in Normal to earn a trip to the Junior Olympics. She logged a personal best 26.93 with a fourth place in the 200. She also placed sixth …

Lake Bluff Middle School Students Walk to Help Youth in Crisis

Partner with North Shore United Way Youth Board Friday at Artesian Park.

  North Shore United Way (NSUW) Youth Board is partnering with Lake Bluff Middle School for the second annual Walk-A-Thon on Friday (May 25) at Artesian Park in Lake Bluff. Students will be walking from 9:30-11:30 a.m., and again 1:30-3:30 p.m. The event is part of Lake Bluff Middle School’s health and wellness week, “One Life: Live Well", a community-wide campaign to raise awareness surrounding physical, mental and emotional wellness. Students will pledge to walk a specific number of laps around Artesian Park to help youth in crisis and encourage support from their friends and family members.
