Do voters realize that they are not required to vote for an entire slate? We are free to select who ever we like regardless of their endorsement or slate affiliations. I get the sense that not all lake bluff voters realize that they are not obligated to vote an entire slate. Think for yourself. Vote intelligently. Do your own research. Don’t rely on someone else to tell you who to vote for. Pick …   more ›

The remaining incumbent D 115 BOE member Todd Burgener, takes to task, Patch, for appearing, in his assessment, to be a sop and defender of regular contributor, Nancy Thorner, and Mrs. Thorner for her, “often foolish and misinformed ranting.” Mr. Burgener further scolds Patch for gross inaccuracies in their facts and for presenting, in their pieces, opinions rather than facts. Thanks Al, for a well crafted and logical response to the loose cannon spending in this district! I remember only too well the former Superintendent touting his project management skills in the 2006 high school addition. As soon as the "its for the kids" referendum passes. Griffith goes out and hires a project manager for the task! Ask the board about the spending on the west campus admin offices…   more ›

LFHS Woodcraft Students Build Toys for Tots

LFHS Woodcraft Students Build Toys for Tots

LFHS Woodcraft Students Build Toys for Tots Beginning in the month of November 2012, the Lake Forest High School Woodcraft students were presented with the challenge to produce wooden toys that would be donated to the United States Marine Toys for Tots Foundation. This year students were asked to volunteer their time before and after school, during Thanksgiving break and even a Saturday in early December to finish the toys. Lake Forest High School students produced two toys, a wooden guitar and a toy rattle. Some of the toys parts were produced using a Computer Numeric Controlled (CNC) that was …

LFHS Teacher Talks: Perception of Resources Divides Sides

Teachers maintain the money is available to meet their request while the Board claims there is not enough. No one disputes educators’ value to community.

Varying interpretations of the resources available to the Lake Forest High School District 115 Board of Education has put the school on the brink of a strike by the Lake Forest Education Association teachers’ union. As a result of the impasse declared by the teachers August 10, both sides were required to disclose their final offers to each other for public viewing.
