Scouts Poised for State Tennis Title Run

Lake Forest High School tennis players win 11 of 12 possible matches after first day of competition.

Winning 11 of 12 matches played, the Lake Forest High School tennis team finished the first-day of State Tournament competition today in a two-way tie for second at Hersey High School in Arlington Heights. The Scouts have accumulated 22 points to share the No. 2 spot with New Trier. Both teams trail Hinsdale Central, which leads with a perfect 24 tallies winning all 12 matches played. Things will change when Scouts, Trevians and Red Devils begin to play each other. Scouts Advance to Sectional Soccer Final

Lake Forest High School soccer team blanks Grayslake Central in semifinal.

Five goals from five different players powered the Lake Forest High School soccer team to a 5-0 semifinal victory over Grayslake Central and into Sectional championship game at 11 a.m. Saturday against Deerfield in Lake Villa. Scout Boys' Lacrosse Team Falls to Spartans

Lake Forest High School ends regular seaon with a 12-4 loss. Heads to playoffs.

Glenbrook North High School's boys lacrosse team was already up by five goals at halftime, leading Lake Forest, 7-2, at Friday's regular season finale in Northbrook. The Spartans would eventually walk away with a 12-4 victory. Lake Forest scored fast in the third quarter and made a big push to keep the Spartans on defense for most of the third. It didn't stop Glenbrook North from owning a fast break to score back-to-back goals midway through the quarter. The Scouts scored early again, in the fourth quarter, but the Spartans answered right back with two more goals.  "I think it was a good way to end out our season on a high note," boy's lacrosse assistant varisty coach Mike Synek said. Schmidt Soars to State Pole Vault Title

Lake Forest High School senior tops closest competitor by a foot.

Everything was working right for Lake Forest High School pole vaulter Carly Schmidt today at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston as she became the Illinois state champion but it was not perfect for an athlete with Olympic aspirations. After a fourth-place medal last year and a State Meet that disappointed her, Schmidt was focused on correcting every mistake and adding perfection in 2013. It paid off with a leap of 13-0, a foot higher than anyone else in the event, and a gold medal. Scouts Win Tennis Sectional

All Lake Forest High School participants advance to State Meet.

Lake Forest High School’s tennis team dominated the Warren Sectional today in Gurnee picking up more hardware for the Scout’s trophy case finishing the meet with 35 points followed by Warren with 25. In addition to taking the team title, the Scouts advanced two singles players and both doubles teams to the State Meet Thursday through Saturday at Hersey High School in Arlington Heights. Schmidt, Schlachtenhaufen Advance to State Track Finals

Lake Forest High School Pole vaulter Carly Schmidt and runner Helen Schlachtenhaufen advanced to the championship round of the State Meet with their preliminary round performances today at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston. Not to be outdone, the Scout soccer team blanked Antioch, 5-0, today to win the Antioch Regional championship and advance to the Lakes Sectional at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. Lake Forest is seeded second in the Sectional behind Deerfield. High School Seeks Input into Principal Search

The community is asked to complete an on-line survey by Tuesday, May 21.

Lake Forest High School District 115 is in the process of searching for a new principal following the April 24 retirement of Jay Hoffmann. The district hopes to have a new leader by June 30 and is asking the community to give their feedback via an on-line survey by Tuesday, May 21. The anonymous survey will help the district identify key attributes the community feels candidates should possess. Survey results will be shared and used by candidate screening and interview teams. Reboot Parnters, Inc. Chairman Dean DeBiase will be the College of Lake County's commencement speaker.

Lake Forest resident Dean DeBiase, a former College of Lake County student who gained distinction as a Silicon Valley and Chicago business leader, will be the keynote speaker at the college’s commencement ceremony on Saturday. DeBiase, who transferred from CLC a few credits short of earning a degree, will also receive an honorary associate degree and the Illinois Outstanding Citizen Award. A co-author with Seth Godin of the best-selling business book The Big Moo: Stop Trying to Be Perfect and Start Being Remarkable, DeBiase’s keynote address, "Semper Paratus," will touch on the entrepreneurial movement and content from a new book he is developing. Schmidt Has State Title, Record Within Sight

Lake Forest High School pole vaulter Carly Schmidt knows she can make track and field history at the State Meet Friday and Saturday at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston and she is ready. Schmidt placed fourth a year ago as a junior clearing 12-0—teammate Carolina Carmichael won the gold medal with a leap of 12-6—and was disappointed with her performance.
