Take a look at the four homes that were part of this year’s tour sponsored by the Spirit of 67 Foundation benefitting Lake Forest District 67 students.
More than 600 people walked through four Lake Forest homes Thursday and they did if for the children of the community. The walk was the annual Spirit of 67 Home Tour. This year more than $70,000 was raised which will go to grants benefitting the Lake Forest District 67 community. "The Cube," a new high-tech space at Deer Path Middle School, was dedicated this week after five months of construction.
Students at Deer Path Middle School in Lake Forest District 67 have a cool new technology space, "The Cube," where creativity, communication and critical thinking collide. The high-tech space, unveiled this week during an open house, features a green room for filming movies, three large monitors, iPads, computers, digital recording equipment and library bookshelves, reports the Chicago Tribune. The project was funded through a $26,000 grant from the Spirit of 67 Foundation. A student committee worked with professionals and volunteers to review the design possibilities and select the final look, according to the organization's Facebook page, which features more photos from Tuesday's dedication.

District 67 enrichment program puts together a Broadway spectacular.
Deer Path Middle School’s Brainstormers program performed the award winning Broadway musical “Fiddler on the Roof” last week featuring student talent and entertainment for the community. The show first opened on Broadway in 1964 depicting changing traditions of Jewish life in Tsarist Russia in 1905. It was the first musical to have a performance run of more than 3,000 shows. Brainstormers is a self-funded enrichment program sponsored by Lake Forest School District 67, according to information provided by the District. Lake Forest residents will have their annual opportunity to tour four historically and architecturally significant homes from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday and help the students of Lake Forest School District 67 schools at the same time. The Lake Forest Caucus has endorsed Jeff Folker for District 67 School Board and I couldn’t agree more with this decision. I have known Jeff for a number of years as our children have shared many activities from sports to plays to dance and I have come to respect his frank, honest, common-sense approach to addressing issues and solving problems. So when, as Commissioner of the Lake Forest Baseball Association, I needed to find a new Treasurer, I immediately recruited Jeff. I was not disappointed.
