Five contenders for four Lake Forest Board of Education seats share their ideas during League of Women Voters forum.
Five candidates for four seats on the Lake Forest High School District 115 Board of Education in the April 9 election made their case to more than 90 people during a League of Women Voters forum Sunday at the Lake Forest Public Library. Todd Burgener, Ted Moorman, John Powers, Steve Reimer and Dave Schreiber answered questions from a moderator and made a direct plea to voters in opening and closing statements. The League of Women Voters and American Association of University Women will host Lake Forest-Lake Bluff candidate debates March 3rd and 10th.
Lake Forest and Lake Bluff candidates in the April 9 consolidated election will participate in two candidate debates sponsored by the League of Women Voters and American Association of University Women (AAUW) on March 3 and March 10. The only debate within the boundaries of the 10th Congressional District between Rep. Robert Dold (R-Kenilworth) and Brad Schneider of Deerfield, his Democratic challenger, takes place at 1:30 p.m. Oct. 14 in the Lake Forest High School east campus auditorium. The forum, co sponsored by the League of Women Voters (LWV) of Lake Forest/Lake Bluff, the LWV of Highland Park/Highwood and the LWV of Deerfield in coordination with Patch and the Union League Club of Chicago will also feature candidates for the Illinois General Assembly and the Lake County Board. Congressman Dold and challenger Brad Schneider will meet four times before Nov. 6 election. The only joint appearance in the 10th District is sponsored by the League of Women Voters and Patch. Three will be televised from Chicago.

The League of Women Voters is very pleased with the Supreme Court's decision upholding the Affordable Care Act (ACA). "This decision protects the health of millions of Americans," said Elisabeth MacNamara, President of the national organization. The League of Women Voters was born more than 90 years ago from the long fight to get women the right to vote. Since 1992, when League members studied health care policy, we have worked to ensure access to quality health care for all. The League also has a strong commitment and belief that public policy in a diverse society must affirm the right of individuals to make their own reproductive choices.
