McCormick’s Leadership Gives Boost to Scout Swimmers

Lake Forest High School captain plays a solid role as the Scout swimmers become one of state’s elite teams.

Leadership comes in many forms and Lake Forest High School swim team captain Peter McCormick is using his personality to guide the Scouts on what is becoming a very successful season. Success is nothing new to the Lake Forest swim program. There have been state championships and one Scout, Matt Grevers, has six Olympics, three of them gold. Swimmer Makes History at State Meet

Lake Forest High School’s Nina Nissly swims in first athletes with disability competition and becomes Illinois’s first triple individual champion.

Three week ago Lake Forest High School senior Nina Nissly was a member of the Scout junior varsity swim team getting ready for the North Suburban Conference Meet as she had during all four years of her career. On Saturday she became the first triple high school swimming champion in Illinois history. It took a lawsuit and help from Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan as three gold medals came her way at the State Meet Friday and Saturday in Evanston. PHOTOS: Olympic Swimmer Matt Grevers Meets Fans in North Shore

The gold medalist posed for photos and signed posters at his dad's landscaping business in Wilmette.

Four-time Olympic gold medalist Matt Grevers made an appearance at his father’s business, Chalet Nursery, in Wilmette Wednesday afternoon to meet with fans, sign posters and pose for photos. Grevers, who grew up and began his swimming career in Lake Forest, took home two gold and one silver medal at the London 2012 Olympics. He did the same in Beijing in 2008. As the son of award-winning landscape designer Ed Grevers, Matt joined his dad to talk “best practices” in the garden and swimming pool after meeting with fans. As the community awaits the return of its gold medal swimmer, Lake Forest High School Students are sharing their congratulatory messages. On Friday, LFHS students began signing a welcome home banner for Matt Grevers, who won his first individual gold medal in the 100-meter backstroke during the 2012 Olympics in London. Tuesday will be proclaimed Matt Grevers Day in Lake Forest. Lake Forest High School and the Lake Forest City Council are joining forces to honor Olympic Gold Medal winner Matt Grevers at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Commons at the high school. Grevers—Winning a Gold Medal is Cool

Lake Forest swimmer pays tribute to everyone who helped him achieve Olympic success in an interview with 'Millionaires Corner'.

Being the best 100-meter backstroke swimmer in the world makes Lake Forest’s Matt Grevers feel very special, according to an interview published Tuesday on the Millionaire Corner. Winning a pair of Olympic gold medals and a silver at the London Olympic Games completed last week “was a pretty cool feeling,” Grevers said in the interview with Millionaire Corner’s Donald Liebenson. “To know that you’re the best in the world at something feels pretty good.” Talking to the financial on line publication, the Lake Forest High School and Northwestern University graduate applied the language of finance to his sport. “Every investment can have a great return,” Grevers said in the interview giving tribute to his hard work and that of everyone who has…

  NBC's Olympics broadcast was the most watched Olympics ever through its first three days, the Washington Post reported.
