NYC Designer Chosen to Create Lake Forest's 'Ragdale Ring'

Ragdale, a nationally-acclaimed artist residency program in Lake Forest, will host a public unveiling of its new outdoor performance space in June.

Ragdale, one of the country’s largest, non-profit artist residency programs, based in Lake Forest, has selected a New York design team create a new outdoor performance space called the "Ragdale Ring." In January, Ragdale put out a nationwide invitation for contemporary interpretations of the original Ragdale Ring, an outdoor performance space designed by architect Howard Van Doren Shaw in 1912. A jury of architects and artists evaluated submissions and selected Stephen Dietrich Lee’s proposal for its visionary and functional design. Lake Forest's Ragdale Calling for Artists to Design New Outdoor Performance Space

Design proposals sought for "Ragdale Ring" project.

Ragdale, a nationally-acclaimed artist residency program in Lake Forest, is putting out the call seeking artists, architects and designers to submit their concept plan for a new outdoor performance space called the "Ragdale Ring," to be utilized during the summer for a variety of events. "Ragdale welcomes proposals for full-scale projects and installations that explore contemporary, fanciful and functional interpretations of the original Ragdale Ring, designed by architect Howard Van Doren Shaw in 1912 as an outdoor garden theatre for plays written by his wife, Frances Shaw," according to a press release.
