Des Plaines Evanston Man Dies After Stabbing at Des Plaines Motel A former Evanston man died Tuesday morning after police say his girlfriend stabbed him with a steak knife during an altercation at a Des Plaines motel. Des Plaines police and fire departments responded to a report that someone was stabbed at the Polo Inn, 374 S. Lee St. in Des Plaines, at approximately 5:28 p.m. on March 6, according to a police report. Charles McGinnis, 51, was transported to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge for medical treatment of a stab wound, according to police, and was taken off life support on Tuesday morning. Regional Crime Report: Explosion Injures 3, Boy Rescued from River and More

Cary Three Injured in Blaze at Industrial Building in Cary Three workers were injured in an explosion and fire at Fox Valley Systems in Cary on Wednesday. Nearby buildings had to be evacuated due to the paint and chemicals contained in the building, officials said. Two people injured in the explosion have been transferred to the burn unit at Loyola Hospital and the third victim was sent to the St. Anthony Hospital Burn Unit in Rockford, according to Cary Fire Lt. Andy Veath.  Investigators from the Cary Fire Protection District, Occupational Safety and Health Administration and Illinois State Fire Marshals are still investigating what caused the two explosions and the subsequent fire. Regional Police Report: Sex Offender Robbed Waitress, Family; Prositution at Dragon Spa Again and More

Cops: Sex Offender Robbed Waitress, Family A Tennessee convict is ordered held in lieu of $1 million after storming into the Lake View restaurant Cassava Bread Sunday night and robbing a waitress, a Buffalo Grove mother and her two children, the Chicago Tribune reports. William Castle, 43, was charged with aggravated robbery, unlawful restraint and aggravated kidnapping, police said. He is also on Tennessee’s sexual offender registry for aggravated sexual battery in 2009. Police say the Buffalo Grove family was eating at the Lake View bakery at 3338 N. Clark St. when Castle busted in around 6:10 p.m., asking the 19-year-old waitress if he could use the bathroom, the Hartford Courant reports. Instead, the man entered the kitchen, grabbed …

Niles Niles North Teacher Accused of Playing Strip Poker with Cheerleaders Pleads Guilty Jeffrey Tackes, the former Niles North math teacher and cheerleading coach who resigned after being accused of sexual exploitation of a minor, plead guilty at the DuPage County Courthouse in Wheaton Thursday Tackes admitted to inviting the Niles North cheerleading team to his Bensenville home on Dec. 15. After the party had ended, two students stayed behind and played strip poker with Tackes, the Chicago Tribune reports. Tackes also exposed himself to the minors, who were 16 and 17. Tackes was sentenced to 250 hours of community service and probation, the Tribune reported. He will also have to register as a sex offender for the next 10 years. The …
