Village OKs Lake Bluff Brewery Company's Extended Business Hours

Open earlier for train customers on weekdays; add lunch hour opening on Saturday, Sunday.

Customers will have more opportunities to enjoy the Lake Bluff Brewing Co. starting next week after the Lake Bluff Village Board approved the extension of its business hours Monday night. “We’re giving the public what they want,” said Rodd Specketer, managing partner of Lake Bluff Brewing Co., 16 E. Scranton Ave. Lake Bluff Brewing Co. will be open from 4 to 11 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 4 p.m. to midnight Friday, noon to midnight Saturday and noon to 10 p.m. Sunday. The brewery will remain closed Mondays. “We wanted to be open a bit earlier for train commuters who are heading back to the city, and we also had lots of people who asked us if we were going to be open for lunch,” Specketer said when explaining the extended open hours. …

Inspired Home Brewers Turn Their Passion into Lake Bluff Brewing Co.

New business opens Wednesday.

Rodd Specketer is a banker. Dave Burns is an engineer. Not exactly the careers that steer you into a path of opening your own business. But the one thing they do have in common, beer, led the duo to add a second job to their resumes and open the Lake Bluff Brewery, 16 E. Scranton Ave., this week. The official opening is Wednesday (March 23). Sixteen months in the planning, Specketer and Burns, both corporate professionals, are inspired to open a brewery to set their own direction –hence the compass in their logo - and manifesto that reads “for the love of craft and beer.”  “Opening a brewery is like another full-time job.
