Lake Forest tackles top-seeded Warren tonight in the Barrington Sectional.

  Can't make tonight's Sectional basketball game, but want to keep track from your phone or computer? The Scouts (18-10 overall) dominated Fremd to capture last Friday's regional title, while the Blue Devils (24-3) knocked off pesky Stevenson. The winner faces the winner of the St. Viator-Mundelein game at 7:30 Friday night at Barrington High School.

Lake Forest Swimmers Win Sectional; Prep for State

Scout basketball closes conference play with win.

  BOYS' SWIMMING Date: Feb. 18 - Lake Forest Sectional The Final Score: 1. Lake Forest, 266.5; 2. Warren, 257; 3. Libertyville, 226; 4. Mundelein, 219; 5. Vernon Hills, 95; 6. Zion Benton, 80; 7. Waukegan, 44. Top Scout Performers: Peter Grumhaus secured a first place in the 200-yard freestyle (1:42.11)and second in the 500 freestyle (4:35.66). The junior will swim both events at next weekend's State meet. Diver Andrew Marsh placed first with 447.75 points to beat out Vernon Hills' Alex Zuniga with 441.20. Other Notable Scout Performers: Senior Bryan Bunning brought home a pair of second-place finishes in the 100-yard butterfly (51.46 seconds) and 100-yard bracktroke (51.93). Regional Loss Ends Lake Forest Girls' Season

Fourth quarter rally falls short despite 27 steals.

  Date: Feb. 14  The Final Score: Deerfield 40, Lake Forest 37  Scouts Star Performer: Mary Striedl scored 14 points and stole the ball 10 times. Other Notable Scout Performance: Annie Keller chipped in 11 points.  Who’s Next: The Scouts close at 3-28 overall.  The Bottom Line: Behind by as much as 14 points in the third quarter, the Scouts missed a chance to put the game into overtime when Striedl’s three-point attempt at the buzzer fell short. Trailing 38-28 late in the game, Lake Forest went on a seven point run to close the gap to 38-35 with 1:16 left. Defense keyed the Lake Forest fourth period comeback as the Scouts had 27 steals for the game.

Lake Forest Freshman Takes the Ball to the Hoop Like Mom

Evan Boudreaux earned his first taste of varsity play during the football season, and now starts for the basketball team.

 Evan Boudreaux's aggressive nature on the basketball court can be traced back to his first coach at age 2. That mentor was Gail Koziara Boudreaux. His mother. She was a Parade Magazine High School All-American who became Dartmouth's all-time leading scorer and rebounder. Gail scored 1,933 points and grabbed 1,635 rebounds in 89 games to lead both the university's men's and women's basketball programs. For three consecutive seasons, she also was named Ivy Player of the Year, and became a two-time Academic All-American and third team All-American. Perhaps even more telling, she helped Dartmouth win its first-ever Ivy League crown in 1979. “She taught me to crash the boards,” Boudreaux said of his mother’s tutelage. “She said if you go to …

Date: Dec. 20  The Final Score: Lake Forest 50, Deerfield 48  Scouts’ Star Performers:Annie Keller led with 15 points while Mary Striedl added 14. Other Notable Scout Performances: Allie Danneker chipped in nine including a three pointer to give Lake Forest the lead for good in the last three minutes.  Who’s Next: The Scouts meet Wheeling at 4:30 p.m. today (Dec 21) in the next round of the Blue Devil Classic in Gurnee. They face Palatine at 4:30 p.m. Thursday (Dec. 22) in their final tourney contest.  The Bottom Line: The Scouts entered the fourth quarter trailing 43-39, and kept chipping away at the Warriors lead. Stevenson 67.975 Scouts’ Star Performer: Junior Kat McKeon captured first on the uneven parallel bars field with a 9.45; classmate Kylie Carlson placed fourth on floor exercise (9.05), and senior Katie Meier took fifth on the balance beam (9.15). Other Notable Scout Performances: Junior Carly Schmidt swung to a ninth-place 8.575 on the uneven bars; classmate Christine Andersen tied for 10th place on vault (8.4); and sophomore Brittany Moccia finished 14th on balance beam (8.3).
