Busted: Hair Salon Bandit Charged with 11 Counts of Robbery

The Cook County State's Attorney's Office Charged an Evanston man with 11 counts of armed robbery today. The announcement was made at the Skokie police station.

The Cook County State's Attorney's Office approved 11 counts of armed robbery against an Evanston man today. The announcement was made at the Skokie Police Department at 10:30 a.m. Jason Logsdon, 41, of the 900 block of Chicago Avenue in Evanston, was charged with 11 counts of armed robbery, all Class X felonies. Police believe Logsdon is responsible for a total of 15 robberies, but the remaining four occurred in DuPage County. That county is still continuing its investigation, police said. WGN is reporting that Logsdon executed the robberies to support his cocaine and crack habit. The news outlet attributed the information to an unknown source. Logsdon appeared in court earlier today but was taken away by an ambulance to a nearby hospital…

'America's Got Talent' to Hold Chicago Tryouts

NBC's top-rated summer show will be holding auditions in Chicago at McCormick Place on Jan. 26 and Jan. 27.

Last season, "American's Got Talent" had three unique finalists: A comedian, a family dog act and a one-of-a-kind musical instrument. The winner? A group of dogs that danced, performed jump rope tricks and even some gymnastics. "Chicago is an important city for 'America's Got Talent,'" said senior casting producer Jason Shuler. "We have had several top talent audition at our Chicago open calls. Among them are Chicago group Footworkingz and the piano player from Edon from our most current season." 'Boy Lover' Sting in Skokie Leads To Child Pornography, Molestation Charges

A total of eight self-identified "boy lovers" attended a sting operation in Skokie; their convictions were announced today. One of the defendants admitted to molesting a 1-year-old boy, authorities said.

A total of eight self-identified "boy lovers" have been convicted after meeting several underage males in a hotel in Skokie, federal officials announced today. The incident happened three years ago, with a Crest Hill man sentenced to 120 years in prison. Six of the eight defendants pleaded guilty and three of them cooperated against others, while the Crest Hill man and a Missouri defendant were convicted after separate trials, authorities said. “The sentences in these cases reflect the stark reality that defendants who prey upon children by sexually exploiting or abusing them will be punished severely,” said Gary S. Senior Killed By Car Was Holocaust Survivor

Leon Goldberg, the 84-year-old man who was killed after being struck by a vehicle outside Niles North High School was also a Holocaust survivor. His friend said he would often speak to students about the atrocities he experienced.

Leon Goldberg, the 84-year-old man who was struck and killed by a vehicle outside Niles North High School on Tuesday, was also a Holocaust survivor, according to close friend Sharon Perlman. Perlman said Goldberg was placed in a number of concentration camps during WW II. He was also recently honored at the Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center in Skokie. "He would often speak to students and educate them about the atrocities he experienced," Perlman said. "I knew Mr. Goldberg for nearly 40 years."
