The 25-year-old bakery on Dundee Road offers an assortment of desserts for practically any holiday.
I walked into Leonard's Bakery at 2776 Dundee Rd. in Northbrook and immediately witnessed a man telling the owner his "chocolate donuts are the best." He was an older man, probably one who's had a lot of donuts in his time. Perhaps the man was just being polite, but it didn't seem that way. Leonard's owner, Marc Becker, said that particular customer is from New York and knows a thing or two about donuts. Becker opened the bakery on Aug. 13, 1987, named it after his father and runs it like a family business. Marc's sister, Bonnie, works by his side. Amaze your kids with these fun St. Patrick's Day recipes and activities

Just like the Christmas Holiday Elf on the Shelf tradition, you can be really creative with the idea that leprechauns play tricks on kids. After all, they are tiny, green, greedy, and grumpy. Back when my daughter was in day care, her very clever teacher decided to have the kids decorate the room for St. Patrick’s Day. When they came back the next morning, the “Leprechaun” had played a trick on them and shrunken …

Local bakery can take care of Irish soda bread, sweet treats and more.
Anyone looking to sweeten up a St. Patrick’s Day celebration needs look no further than Gerhard’s in Lake Forest. Irish soda bread is available every day through St. Patrick’s Day starting today. The bakery advertises it as a “moist and fluffy buttermilk bread with raisins and a sprinkling of rock sugar.” Anyone worried about Gerhard’s running out can place an order for soda bread or other treats. Looking for something sweeter? You can buy or order Bailey’s Irish Cream mouse, a chocolate and lime cake or shamrock cookies. For more details see the picture of the sign in the door with this story. For complete Lake Forest News, sign up for our free newsletter,"like" us on Facebook or follow us on Twitter.
