The Five Best Bets for Your Weekend Ahead

1) Picnic on the Farm, Sunday Sept. 30, Noon-3 p.m. at Elawa Park. The City of Lake Forest Parks and Recreation is sponsoring this free event Sunday. Kevin Nealon, co-star of Showtime Television’s award winning comedy series, Weeds, and a Saturday Night Live (SNL) veteran, performs at Zanies Comedy Night Club in Vernon Hills Saturday (Jan. 29). Nealon’s performances run at 7 and 9:30 p.m. Nealon, who was a member of the SNL cast from 1986 to 1995, made a name for himself from his endeared creations sketches like “The Subliminal Man,” "Hans and Franz” and “Weekend Update.” Describing his distinct sense of humor as dry, Nealon spoke to his perspective regarding upcoming performances at Zanies in Vernon Hills. “I find that my act is the funniest at that particular longitude and latitude [in Illinois]," Nealon said.
