Township Supervisor Race Becomes Clear

Alyson Feiger and Jack Koenig will compete April 9 to replace state Sen. Elect Julie Morrison (D-Deerfield) as West Deerfield Township supervisor.

Only one thing was certain when the West Deerfield Township Republicans and Democrats met in caucus Tuesday. That assurance was the Township will have a new supervisor to replace state Sen. Elect Julie Morrison (D-Deerfield) when she becomes a member of the Illinois General Assembly in January. She intends to resign her current position around that time. Earlier: Caucuses Give Citizen Voice Tuesday Democrat Alyson Feiger of Deerfield and Republican Jack Koenig of Bannockburn will face off to become the new supervisor in the April 9 election. Owners Assess How To Value Their Property, Reduce Taxes

West Deerfield Township is about to send out assessment notices with some homeowners using an attorney to appeal

It may not be the sexiest topic in the world, but for homeowners in West Deerfield Township, a crucial period is upon them as their annual property tax assessments are not too far away. Inevitably, that means some property holders will get to know the process of appealing a ruling. It may not be easy, but it can be beneficial if the proper steps are taken leading to a reduction of the property tax bill. Two local people with two different perspectives on the situation have enjoyed some degree of success in dealing with West Deerfield Township Assessor Tom Healy. I tried to fight my property tax assessment by myself for a few years but was given the run around and the county site was really confusing. I now use Lake County Appeal they saved me over $1000.00 and their fee was reasonable considering I was failing on my own.   more ›
