Swapidy allows traders to swap items like books and video games and have them verified.
Do you have a video game or book that you don't need anymore — and another video game or book that you'd like to own? A new website launched by a Libertyville High School graduate may be able to help. Adam Ahmad, 18, just launched a site called Swapidy, where people can swap goods with others. "You can stay in your house and literally trade with anybody nationwide," said Ahmad. "That's the real beauty of it." Ahmad said his inspiration to create Swapidy came from his experiences with using online classified advertisement or auction sites during his previous entrepreneurial adventure. When Ahmad was just 11 years old, he loved playing on the PlayStation Portable (PSP), but his parents were not so fond of continually buying him new games. …

Her business has been open for just over a week, but already Jereline Hur is impressed with the welcoming Libertyville community. Hur and her husband, Steve, opened Yo Froot at 620 N. Motorola will keep its headquarters in Libertyville.
Lake County Board Chairman David Stolman says he was surprised to hear about today's acquisition of Libertyville-based Motorola by Google, but also expects Motorola to stay in Lake County. “I’m hopeful that it’s going to be good for Lake County,” Stolman said. “Hopefully it will also attract new businesses to Lake County." Stolman is cautiously optimistic because typically mergers between companies affects the size of the workforce. "Sometimes with mergers there are layoff, however, it’s not the situation in this case. (The acquisition) is outside of Google’s turf, so we are hoping that there will be no layoffs and more additions (to the workforce),” Stolman said. CASA volunteer notes the rewards of being a court-appointed advocate for minors.
Six years ago, Libertyville resident Jim Sayre had just retired when he decided to volunteer for a nonprofit called CASA. “I had been in the pharmaceutical industry for most of my life,” he said, explaining how he was immediately attracted to the organization’s mission statement after he first learned about it during a company luncheon. CASA stands for court-appointed special advocate, and Sayre wanted to join its ranks. When a minor is taken from their home because of abuse or neglect, CASA tries to help the child within the juvenile court system. A judge assigns a volunteer who advocates in the child's best interests. While CASA is a national organization, Lake County’s branch is based out of Deerfield and has 225 volunteers serving …
